PR Proposal
Some of our potential clients like us to write a proposal to outline the strategy we intend to use to promote their product or service. Others are happy to have a chat about it and discuss the strategy verbally. We are happy to do either! Often it depends whether you are in the same state as us, if not, a proposal is often the best way to go.
Getting Started
Once you have decided that you want to work with us and have provided us with some background information and images, we will get started. Firstly we will write a press release (or more, depending on the agreed strategy) and prepare a media list for you to approve.
You need to pay close attention to both before giving us the go-ahead. The next step for us is to send out both the press release and any images or supporting information to the media via email. We then start to follow up on the emails by calling the journalists or producers to check that they received the press release and to see if they are interested in covering the story. If we can’t get hold of them, we tend to persist with weekly phone calls until we get an answer either way.
Reports
As we get confirmation (either way) from a media outlet, we make a note of it on an Excel spreadsheet which we will send out to you every month (however we can do one for you on request too!). This PR status document will tell you where and when stories are going to appear. As we start to collect the clippings, we will scan them and send them on to you.
At the end of the campaign we often create a PR Review Document which details the ROI (in terms of the comparative costs for casual rate advertising in the relevant media), the number of readers/viewers, the date of the article, and an overview of the success of the campaign and the clippings we have collected.
Mailing Out of Samples/Prizes
It is our preference that you send out samples yourself. We will approach the media and ask them if they are interested in running a story and/or promotion. Once we have received a confirmation of their interest we will ask you for approval and if you are happy to do so, we will provide you with the address details. We also ask that you inform us when they have been sent so that we can follow up with our contact.
